Our public education systems service over 3,000 students in three school districts. Students are exposed to computers and international languages at an early age. Over 55% of our district's graduates participate in some type of continued education, reflecting our commitment to education. We also offer a private Baptist elementary/middle school where 55 students enjoy a teacher to student ration of 1 to 10.

Burleson County is near many of the finest public and private universities, colleges and junior colleges in Texas. The people of Burleson County are convinced that a good education is a prerequisite to a good life.

An excellent public library holds over 17,000 books, 10 magazines, a large selection of audio books and a collection of local history. There are 2 computers that are available for use by customers.

Burleson County is also a community committed to good health. Burleson St. Joseph Hospital, is a modern, high quality health care facility, serves the area with excellent health care. The hospital's commitment to growth has included recent additions in equipment, programs, facilities, and physicians. A variety of health care professionals reside in our community, with specialists as well as family doctors proudly calling Burleson County their home.

Burleson County boasts one of the lowest crime rates in America. In fact, it is so low, many people can't believe it. But it's true, because we know that in Burleson County, a neighbor is also a friend.

We look out for one another. It also helps to have excellent city and county law enforcement agencies as well as the regional office of the Texas Department of Public Safety here. All this gives us the security to take a run in the park, sit on our front porch and sleep well at night, knowing our families are safe.

Burleson County homes run the full gamut of style, size and character, for both the young and the young at heart. Our city neighborhoods are well designed, well kept and near schools, churches and shopping. If you like a little space there are numerous rural subdivisions with 2-50 acre tracts and subdivision on Lake Somerville with boat ramps.

Step back in time in one of the Burleson County's museums or visit one of the area's historical buildings. Several homes and public buildings in the area are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Burleson County has a variety of churches, clubs and organizations reflect our dedication to the community we serve. Newcomers and new members are welcome and encouraged to join the folks that work to ensure a higher quality of life for all our people.

But there's much more to life in Burleson County than work. There's recreation, and lots of it. Our recreation system is one of the finest around with eight public parks, two public tennis courts and beautiful Lake Somerville. The Burleson County Fairgrounds has a myriad of activities you'll enjoy there throughout the year. The newly covered Buddy & Edile Lightsey Rodeo Arena has some type of rodeo action almost every weekend including be the host arena for the Texas A&M University NCAA Invitational. Festivities like old-fashioned ice cream socials, a family style 4th of July celebrations, picnics and parades are all part of the heritage of our Texan lifestyle. Festivals abound in Burleson County year-round. The world famous Chilifest occurs in early April each year bringing the best in Country/Western and Country Rock bands with crowds approaching 50,000. The “Hawgs of Texas Motorcycle Rally” ends the month of April. June brings Snookfest with its huge antique tractor show and bar-b-q cook off. The summer really heats up with Somerfest on the shores of beautiful Lake Somerville. Fall is ushered in with the Kolache Festival celebrating the rich Czech heritage of our county. Santa Claus arrives twice, once at “Christmas on the Square” in Caldwell and again at “Santaville in Somerville” both in early December.

For the active sports enthusiast, Burleson County is widely known for its excellent hunting, fishing and water sports. Each year, hunters bag impressive numbers of wildlife in our fields and woods. We have one of the finest Army Corp of Engineers lakes in Texas with over 11,000 acres of water where fresh water fishing, boating , skiing, swimming and sunning are enjoyed throughout the seasons. Burleson County is also home to Copperas Hollow Country Club with a manicured golf course and pool. Burleson County is also host for the Brazos Valley Senior Track and Field Games each year.
